Audi’s + M/H “Driver’s Test” Awarded Silver Clio

Audi has a decade-long partnership with Marvel which means Audi vehicles have taken part in epic on-screen action in Marvel films. Sony Pictures release of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming presented a new and unique set of challenges for Audi and MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER. Primarily, how do we integrate the new 2018 A8 (still under media embargo at the time) with an underage superhero (the 15-year old Peter Parker)?

Our solution came from a cultural landmark that every American teenager experiences: the driver’s license test. This relatable, emotional, and universal moment was the perfect setting in which to introduce not only the A8 but our high school-aged hero as well. Starring Tom Holland (Peter Parker) and J.B. Smoove (the Instructor), the two and a half minute film “Driver’s Test” showed how the Intelligent Technology features of the new A8 helped Peter Parker receive a passing score on his driver’s test.

In the US promotional period, “Driver’s Test” videos garnered 120,852,495 views across US Social and Digital platforms and earned the greatest number of PR impressions (143,914,117) for any Audi partnership initiative in history. Now “Driver’s Test” can add a Silver Clio Winner to its impressive results.

“There’s No Crying in Quarters”

MUH·TAY·ZIK | HOF·FER was proud to take home the first place trophy at the first ever AD2SF Agency Olympics last Thursday night. Repping M|H was Emily Mee, Hillary Lannan, Christopher Penman, Alec Black, Nate Gagnon, Alex Dacks, Jack Ireland, and Nadia Last. On their path to glory they faced 9 other teams in 4 events: Beer Pong, Flip Cup, Quarters, and Trivia. Hillary, one of the victors, summed up the evening saying, “We knew going in that we’d crush the Costume and Spirit superlatives, but it was the dream team of Quiet Confidence that crowned MUH·TAY·ZIK | HOF·FER 2015 AD2SF Agency Olympic Champs. There’s no crying in Quarters, and definitely no Angry Bros on team M|H. A critical turning point was during Trivia. As dedicated Yacht Rockers, our knowledge of the illustrious canon of Mr. Michael McDonald (The Great One) was key to our early lead, and the resulting momentum made us unstoppable. Although we (uncharacteristically) fell to Godfrey, Q, and Partners in Flip Cup, quote of the night goes to Mr. Alec Black: “THAT’S HOW YOU FLIP A F*CKING CUP!”
And it was all in the name of charity—all of the proceeds went to AD2SF’s Public Service Program, which provides pro-bono advertising work for local nonprofits. The MUH·TAY·ZIK | HOF·FER office couldn’t be prouder.

We have a cultural award we give out every year. It’s in memory of Lori Walker who once worked here and made us all better with her infectious positive spirit and can-do attitude.

Cannes Throwback

With Cannes 2014 in full swing, here’s a glimpse of 2011. John was asked to speak at Cannes on the New Agency Showcase in 2011. One of three from around the world, MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER represented the United States on the main stage. MUH·TAY·ZIK | HOF·FER commercials for New Amsterdam Vodka and shortlisted for AICP Awards

We dig the AICP. Every year the Association of Independent Commercial Producers holds their awards show, and it’s a good one. The work tends to be from a broader swath of style than most shows. And, incidentally, the work goes in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.  We’re happy to announce that they have selected two spots from MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER as finalists this year.

In the Low Budget Film category, they have selected “17 Minutes” for, in which a man quickly plans his going-away party with the Do app when he finds out he has 17 minutes to live.

In the Original Music category, they have selected the Anthem spot for New Amsterdam Vodka. Congrats to our partners at Beacon Street Studios and the artists they are helping to launch, Crown & the Mob. The song: “Love my people.” Have a listen, it’s great.
