Hofherr has served as a managing partner at seven agencies. He worked at TBWA/Chiat/Day, BBDO, FCB, and Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners all when they were named 'agency of the year'.
In 1999, Citron Haligman Bedecarre, the largest independent ad agency in SF and Adweek’s West “Agency of the Year” decided instead of selling to Euro RSCG Worldwide they would retain their independent status and bring on a fourth partner. Two hundred new employees later and $250 million in new billings later the agency changed its name to AKQA, the largest independent digital agency in the country.
In 2002, after helping with the creative rebirth of San Francisco’s TBWA/Chiat/Day office, Matt left his post as managing partner to join Omnicom’s leading direct marketing agency Direct Partners. Matt served as the President (SF) and CMO (NY, LA, and SF) of Direct Partners. Matt also graduated from Omnicom's Senior Management program that year.
In 2006, Matt was nominated for the American Advertising Federation’s Hall of Achievement for the second time.
Matt's brand experience ranges from A to Z: Apple, Blistex, CDW, Citizens Bank, Cisco, Delta Dental, Earthlink, Fox Sports, Giants, HNC Software, iGo, Jamba Juice, Lonely Planet, Levi's, McKesson, Nestle, Palm, QuickBooks, Rock the Vote, Sony Playstation, Tropicana, Webex, Walmart, and Zurich Direct.
Matt lives in the East Bay with his lovely wife Michele and his daughter Samantha.
