During two decades in advertising, Nick’s gone from his hometown of KC to Austin, then San Francisco, and finally New York City. Along the way, he’s never forgotten his Midwestern values, but has now combined them with NYC intensity.
His career has always been focused on unencumbered indies, like Bernstein-Rein and Venables Bell & Partners, as well as ones within holding companies like GSD&M and Gotham.
After helping build VB&P as MD and partner for nearly a decade, a run that culminated in a spot on AdAge’s A-List, he moved to Gotham. As President, he helped them lean into their indie spirit, in both culture and operations. In the process, Nick earned more A-List honors, for Agency-to-Watch and #1 Agency Standout.
He’s worked on dozens of accounts from HBO, Walmart, Barclays, and Coca-Cola to ConocoPhillips, Denny’s, Audi, and Luxottica. What’s most important to Nick is people and the opportunity to do great work. When those things unite, it’s intensely satisfying, with no greater reward than winning an Effie and a Lion for the same effort, an accomplishment he’s achieved multiple times over the years.
Given what’s most important to Nick, it’s no wonder he found his way to MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER. It’s a move that’s been twenty years in the making.
During downtime, when he’s not traveling with his partner Dave, Nick balances crazy NYC with more tranquil CT, and BBQs for lots of visitors.
