"At heart, I'm a dude from South Central Los Angeles. We roll the way we roll because we had survival tactics; we had to learn how to adapt. That's just me."

Endgame and The Future of Cinema
By: Wells Wallace

This past weekend Avengers: Endgame did $1.2 billion in sales, making it the biggest global opening ever. Not only did it break records, but it also proved that couch-viewing has yet to fully usurp the theater. This past winter, box office revenue hit an 8-year low, so the massive success of Endgame demonstrates that the movie theater experience isn’t dead yet.

Before this weekend, the biggest opening weekend of all time for the U.S. box office was Avengers: Infinity War. The Atlantic wrote an article yesterday making the argument that “the future of the cinema experience lies largely with colossal event movies. Every prior box-office record-holder has succeeded as a cultural milestone of sorts. Avatar pioneered new 3-D technology in cinemas; Titanic was a word-of-mouth sensation that drew teenagers in for multiple viewings; Jurassic Park marked the dawn of the CGI era; and Star Wars and Jaws were the dawn of the blockbuster itself.”

Instagram Adds A Quiz Sticker to Stories
By: Sergio Saucedo

Last week, Instagram introduced a quiz sticker to Stories, building on the platform’s push for increasing engagement. While most users may be familiar with the poll and question stickers, this new sticker feature allows you to ask your friends/fans multiple-choice questions.

Audi jumped on the new feature last week to test their fan’s knowledge of the brand’s signature paint color names. Users should expect brands from all verticals to start integrating this feature into their Instagram Story strategies real soon.

Overall, this new feature is a great way to interact with your followers while using existing assets to drive engagement.

LinkedIn Engagement Levels at an All-Time High
By: Luke Yun

LinkedIn’s momentum can’t be stopped. In their recent FY19 Q3 results, Microsoft reported that  LinkedIn’s revenue has increased by 27% for the quarter. Just as impressively, LinkedIn saw 24% growth in on-platform sessions.

This marks a record level of engagement for the Microsoft-owned company. With 610M users and new features like Stories and post reactions, LinkedIn continues to set the standard for how social networks scale.

Amazon was nearly called "Cadabra", as in "abracadabra." Founder Jeff Bezos changed the name when his lawyer misheard the word as "cadaver."
