Then CEO Carli Fiorina announced to the world that HP stood for “invent.” It was time to prove it. On TV we brought to life innovative technology they were developing. On the Web, we let consumers do a little inventing for themselves in some of the Web’s first pure branding work in banners.
HP received piles of emails from consumers thanking them for respect on the Web. The One Show Interactive gave the campaign an unprecedented three Gold Pencils. Received the Gold Art Directors Cube and multiple Gold Clios. The UK pulled the TV spot after children hurled bricks at passing busses. John was writer on all work at agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
