The Washington Nationals Media Case Study

The Washington Nationals are a beloved team. But in 2017, following a year of lower-than-anticipated ticket sales, the focus needed to be on rebuilding attendance.

In order to galvanize the closest fanbase among several different audiences, we launched a campaign in Washington D.C. and key Virginia and Maryland markets.

We took a surround-sound approach, taking over the market with OOH, Radio, TV, Print and Digital placements -- all of which helped build awareness, frequency, and ultimately, ticket sales.

Launching at the right time was an important factor, so we began the campaign pre-season with high impact OOH, TV, digital and social to create excitement for the upcoming season. Once tickets went on sale, we expanded into print, and radio to reach our audience cross-channel and drive ticket sales.

It worked. Presale ticket sales saw a year over year increase of 16% and the efforts drove more than 500,000 single-game tickets.
